  • M.tech in Food and Nutrition: Overview¬†

    A post-graduate study in food technology is called M.Tech (Food & Nutrition), or Master of Technology in Food & Nutrition. The course on food and nutrition covers topics including product creation, quality control, and applied nutrition. An area of growing relevance to consumers, the government, and the food business is the intersection of human nutrition and food science, which is the subject of the Master of Technology course in Food & Nutrition.

    The nutritional importance of processed foods in the diet, the implications of nutrition labeling and nutrition claims, functional foods and catering technologies, and nutritional quality are all covered in the Master of Technology program in Food & Nutrition. The two-year Food & Nutrition course has a curriculum that is broken up into four semesters.


    How is an M.tech in Food and nutrition Course Beneficial?


    Candidates can Engage in hospitals, health and fitness center, canteens, nursing homes, colleges and universities where nutrition and dietetics are studied, catering departments of five-star hotels, research facilities for food producers, government health agencies, etc.

    This degree program helps students prepare for a variety of responsibilities in the community and public nutrition, including those of nutritionists, dieticians, scientists, and academicians.

    M.tech in Food and Nutrition: Eligibility


    Candidates must have scored an overall 60% CGPA while completing their BE/BTech in food processing, chemical engineering, biotechnology, agricultural engineering, dairy, food technology, or a related subject.

    Physics, chemistry, and mathematics should be the main subjects of the candidate.






    Mtech graduates within the field of food technology are in high demand since, in India, where agriculture is the main industry, food is an essential component of daily life. The food industry supports billions of employment through MSME, SHG, small-scale industry, and local production. A qualified, seasoned Senior in the business may make up to INR 10,00,000 per year after a few years of work, making it one of the top-paid industries. Agricultural technology, fisheries and management, dairy technology, industrial microbiology, food and nutrition, food science, and analytical chemistry are a few of the food technology professions in which a candidate with a specialization can work.

    MTech Food Technology graduates can find employment in the fields of Food and Dairy Technology, Food Technology, and Biotechnology.

    For postgraduates in MTech Food Technology, research institutes like the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) and the Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology (IICPT) provide a number of employment opportunities.

    Candidates may take up positions as project assistants at the Central Food Technological Research Institute or as adjunct professors at reputable colleges and universities.

    Holders of an M.Tech. in Food Technology are qualified to launch their own businesses and serve as food consultants after accumulating job experience in the food processing and technology fields.

    Graduates of the MTech program in food technology can also study for government competitive exams and get the desired position.
